The right stuff

We’ve all got it. Sometimes it’s just buried beneath a bunch of things like procrastination, worry, self doubt, and fear of trying new things. We can all do what brings us joy. Sometimes we just need a bit of rest in between, the right people around to help us, and a process to remind us we can do the things!

Even when I make the “good” choice, to write a blog early, to go to bed before midnight, to turn my phone to flight mode when spending time with people, I can ease myself out of this behavior far too easily. I do the thing for a certain amount of time, get into a groove, and then creep back to my phone or to play video games late or think I’ve done enough writing and take a break.

This “break” to watch one YouTube video, or watch one game of football, or noodle around on the guitar, or to stretch can easily balloon out. Five minutes becomes ten short bursts of five minutes and in no time I’ve lost my train of thought.

Balance. It’s about finding and maintaining balance. Doing things is good! Productivity is good! Rest is good! So is working as a team to get something done. The right stuff sometimes is having the courage to ask for help and to learn. It can be a difficult thing to find inside ourselves.

But it exists. We have it, and can find and engage with it when we need to.

PEACE.

Happy day my friend. I enjoyed reading this. It’s an encouragement to know we all have the “right stuff”. And it’s so human of us to become off balanced. But the best thing? Is just what you have done ~you recognize it and find your balance again. It takes a lot of courage and self-discipline. Good for you to know what makes you do the good things! God bless you my friend! Keep encouraging us! 💛

You’re so welcome my friend. My life is finding new routines and new “normals” when it comes to working around the launch of my new children’s book. Marketing, different budgeting, communication, scheduling visits, etc…and trying to balance that with taking care of home responsibilities, my health, relationships, my pup! Lol,…life is about balance like you wrote. By keeping Christ first, I should do first things first, give him the glory, and allow him to work through my efforts. Keep having courage too my friend!

Hamish, I think that the struggle to keep life in balance will always be with us! The “right stuff” IS what we have already. We just have to find it within ourselves and work to fulfill our potential! Great topic! Interesting and encouraging post.

    All the best! ❤

Balance has been difficult for me to attain these past couple months. When I have my eyes set on something, I usually give 100% to that one thing and neglect everything else in my life. When I want to write, I’ll spend the whole day writing and not go to the gym, get take out food, and drink all day. Oh the habits of a recluse writer! For the past year I’ve been trying to be better at balancing the various parts of my life. I’m a Libra so I have quite an affinity for balance. You are right, and know that you are not alone in your struggle to find balance. If everything was in balance all the time life would be pretty boring wouldn’t it? 🙂

Thank you so very much for your thoughts and sharing bits of your own story. It does help to know I am not alone, and that writing as something I *need* to do – because I’m some strange way it is one of the pieces that helps complete who I am – is something others feel too!

Lately I have been finding it difficult to balance anything, hence my unplanned absence from publishing any blogs on WordPress recently. The year has been tougher than I thought so I think a holiday over the summer here in New Zealand is exactly what I need.

Keep on keeping on being awesome you. Sending many useful vibes for a right balance for you. 😊
